From earlier this week this Celler 9+ Mèdol Selec From earlier this week this Celler 9+ Mèdol Selecció Pet Nat from @boutiquewines was a wonderful pairing with my prawn puttanesca. Made from garnacha and produced in the ancestral style it has the fruit and acidity to enhance the tomato, savoury richness and prawn sweetness
Spaghetti alla puttanesca with prawns and topped w Spaghetti alla puttanesca with prawns and topped with a garlic chilli pangrattato. Pungent, fresh, savoury, vibrant. I’d eat this all day every day!

Quiche. Parmesan shortcrust pastry thrown together Quiche. Parmesan shortcrust pastry thrown together when I got home. Then the fridge scavenge. The result: @mccambridgesgalway baked ham, semi dried tomatoes, red onion, gruyère and cheddar. A bit of side salad and that’ll do.

Sans car (and I don’t drive) limits our destinations but on a last minute whim I decided to book us into @thetwelvehotel, a long-standing and popular destination for food, wine and comfort in Barna. 

The weather was stunning (which always helps in the west) but the best part was this was a 20 minute taxi journey from where we live. Often we feel like we really need to go on our journey (and at times it’s part of it) but there are most definitely incredible destinations in all of our counties that we may discount. This weekend was perfect. Great food, great wine, great company and just over the road.
